Abstract

Surveying the prevalence of the ankylosis in primary molars in 694 children (male;351, female; 343) from 4 to 10 years old by orthopantomograph, the author obtained the following results.
1) The prevalence of ankylosed dentition was 6.6percent and that of ankylosed teeth was 1.06 percent of total primary molars.
2) The mandibular first molar was most frequently affected (2.6%), followed by maxillary first molar (1.3%), mandibular second molar (0.3%), and maxillary second molar (0.2%).
3) The slight infraclusion of total ankylosed teeth was 68.4%, and the severe infraclusion occured more frequently among maxillary molars than mandibular molars.
